I added it up, and as of today, I have logged 48 miles on my bike in 2.5 weeks. By the end of the week, I'll be at 60 miles.

I have no idea if this is a decent amount or not, but to me it feels momentous.

5 months ago, when I joined WW, I wasn't at all excited about the fitness portion I would inevitably be adding to my lifestyle (understandably so, as that's what got me in this mess in the first place). I cycled through several false starts at adopting a routine, any sort of routine. Couch to 5K? Took 6 weeks to get to week 3.. Evening walks? Eh, sometimes. Weight training and cardio in the "gym" provided by our complex? HA. I think the longest I sustained any of these was a week, maybe a week and a half.

Oh, but bike riding.

As a kid, I would hop on my bike (light purple with white handles, no streamers), head up the road and just go, for hours. Up and down the street, around and around the cul de sac, powering up hills and coasting back down…how did I forget how fun it was?

I love the feeling of the wind on my face and the burn in my thighs. I love pushing until I feel like I'm completely out of any breath to breathe, and then continuing on. I love that I love it and that even when it's hard, I still want to do it.

I've never been able push myself when I needed to when it comes to fitness (with the exception of winning the Presidential Fitness Award in 7th grade), but even on 4.5 hours of sleep, I've been able to pull through my reticence and ride. Maybe it's because I know the cool air will wake me up, maybe it's because I know I can do it, maybe I've just finally decided that I have to like SOMETHING, but I do it. And I will keep doing it.

I like how this feels.
